Quick mid-week pick-me-up!

Hi, my name is Dorese, and I have a problem:

I LOVE holiday decor.

Doesn't matter if I do anything to celebrate the holiday or not, I just love to change it out.
The wide world of blogging has only enabled this behavior.
One teensy tiny problem, of course, is the cost.  I love me some crafty crafts for decor, but I also don't have a lot of time to dedicate to my boxes neatly organized folders of "someday" crafts.

So I buy stuff.  And change it or update it to make it my own.

Case in point: Scentsy warmers.  You've heard of Scentsy, right?  Yeah, me too.  It's another problem I have.  I bought a new warmer for Christmas last year, just 'cus they're so FUN and they totally contribute to the HOLIDAY DECOR!  But then I had to have one in the now-empty space I had plopped my winter one.

And they cost around $30 a piece.

Needless to say, I wasn't down with that.  So I started devising a plan that did not involve buying the super cute Valentine's Day warmer that had just come out.  But I had to hurry before I caved.  Did I mention it was super cute?

Instead, I bought a plain white one.  Yep, boring old white.
And a few yards of different ribbons.

Here's my creation for Easter:

For Valentine's Day, I tied a fat black ribbon around and then layered a skinnier red ribbon on top of it.  It looked classy.  I think I'll switch to pink and brown for next year though.

I picked this green woven "ribbon" out in February, with a grand scheme in my head.  And you know what?  It worked!  I tied this puppy on there at the beginning of March, and am just barely getting around to changing it out for the summer Americana decor.

Choosing a springy green ribbon meant I could use it for St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and general Springtime all in one shot.

Ahh... the sound of sweet nothings in this lazy decorator's ear.

Here's another shot.  {{I know these pictures are terrible.}}  I took them at night while I was waiting for some glue to dry and had a happy trigger finger.

Enjoy!

Great idea, also Walmart sells scentsy wannabe warmers for $15/ea. and they can be cute too, and the bars there are $2/ea. at least here in AZ. Hobby Lobby has the stuff too here.

Thanks, Kalia! Perhaps the ultimate cheapness key would be to have bought a plain-Jane warmer from Wal-mart and then tied the ribbon on... Nice!

Also, could you invite me to your blog again? I reformatted my computer and haven't been able to see any of my friends' private blogs since!

Looks great - I'm all for the quick fixes. And I am with you on the 'someday' crafts...things are bought or started with good intentions and then other stuff gets in the way (like kids, showers, OTHER crafts).

Thanks, Missy! It's nice to know I'm not alone in that! I just took a few hours this morning and got caught up on one half-finished project. Didn't take pictures, of course... Maybe I'll still post on it though :)

Also, could YOU invite me to your blog again, too? (See above - I'm an idiot!) THANKS!
